HOLIDAY LIGHTS NIGHT SCORE-O RESULTS

Post Event Message
We had a great turnout for the two-week long 2025 Beaverton Holiday Lights competition. Half of the participants came on opening night, and they were able to share delicious holiday treats and drinks before and after their courses. Our youngest participants also did a lighted Kidd-O course in our yard. The remainder of our participants did their courses in their own time in the two weeks that followed. The above average amount of rainfall limited the days that people could do their courses, so there were often multiple competitors going out on the few rain-free evenings that we had.
We finished designing the courses just a week before the event when there was a momentary pause in the rain. At the time, there weren't as many decorations up, but by the time that the event started, we were happy to see a lot more decorated homes out there for our participants to enjoy.
The event map had eighty-nine controls spread over 4.8 square kilometers. Team Scharffenberg found all eighty-nine (4590 points) after running 17.8 miles in slightly over 5.5 hours. Matt De Witt came in second with fifty-one controls (2870 points) in just 90 minutes. There were many other very impressive results for people who stayed out 1.5 to 3 hours. Many just wanted to know where the best displays were, and they focused on them rather than their points. We couldn’t have been happier with how things went.
We are already looking at a few special neighborhoods for the 2026 Holiday Lights competition. We hope that you can join us then, or, if you are busy with other holiday commitments, you might be able to share the fun on one of the following evenings before the decorations come down.
Happy New Year!
