2025 Greenway Point-to-Point

The weather was perfect for our first point-to-point event using the MapRun® phone app. This event featured seven courses using extensive routes through neighborhoods, a large creekside park, and a business campus, all interconnected with irregular roads and walkways. The orange and brown courses were the most popular with a few competitors doing the green, red, and blue courses. The MapRun® phone app has been working quite well recording course times and confirming controls, so we will continue to use that app in place of the more cumbersome Q&A sheets. For the social event we had two types of cookies, fruit, and various drinks for everyone, while competitors shared their course experiences with each another. Our thanks to MTHD members Ken and Jan Milnes for their coconut cranberry cookie recipe--all of the many cookies made from their recipe were snatched up.
Jay Hennigan, another MTHD member, suggested we consider using this map for a mountain bike orienteering (MTBO) event in the future as the area has lots of interesting low-traffic roads and walkways that would make for unique MTBO courses. We are definitely considering this possibility for the near future.
