2026 HIllsboro Metrogaine Summary
We had a nice turnout for our SE Hillsboro event. The weather forecast originally called for a little rain, but we ended up with a sunny day. The temperatures were cool but perfect for a good run.
This year, we expanded the Reeds Crossing 1.1-sq-km map to cover the southeastern corner of Hillsboro (6.8 sq. Km). Because the new map covered such a large area, it was drawn to metrogaine standards, which mainly show just the streets, trails, and parklands that participants can use. The only buildings shown on the map are larger structures in mostly public spaces.
For the 3-hour course, Dan Simon was the only person to visit all of the control sites, earning 1100 pts. Behind him were Team Liddiard (960 points) and the Canoe-O2 team (880 points).
For the 2-hour course, Janette Klaser finished first (470 points) followed by David Rogers (360 points) and Jay Hennigan (260 points).
For the 1-hour course, Jon Treadwell finished first with 200 points.
The Kidd-O course had two participants—Arlo and Wilder Boyles, both of whom had fun riding their bikes to each of the controls (a bike-O event).
Kathleen Kerns managed the event website, registration, and the results. Tony Pinkham made the map and courses. Nora Tom made the brownies that everyone seemed to have enjoyed. MapRun(R) provided the timing and tracking (you can see everyone’s tracks by viewing the MapRun results). Thanks to the city of Hillsboro for the use of the nice shelter in Tamarack Park. And thanks to all the participants who came out and ran the event!
