Event Description

The NW Portland urban metrorogaine is a score-orienteering running or walking competition where the competitor has up to 2, 4, or 6 hours to find as many control sites as possible, in any order.  A map is used to find the locations of each virtual control site and the MapRun® app is used to record start and finish times, as well as the time and score value for each control found.

Individuals or teams may do the 2- or 4-hour courses, but teams of 2-3 competitors are required for the 6-hour course.

Competitors may check in as early as 8:00 AM and start anytime they wish after having no more than one hour to view their maps, but they must finish their courses by 3:00 PM at the latest.

The event day schedules are as follows:

Course    Check-in and Map Distrib.  Mass Start        Finish

6-Hour                   8:00 AM                   9:00 AM          3:00 PM

4-Hour                   9:00 AM                 10:00 AM          2:00 PM

2-Hour                   9:00 AM                 10:00 AM        12:00 PM

Teams

Please note that teams are required for the 6 hour course.  Choose your teammates carefully.  Teams must stay together at all times. If one member needs to take a break, the team takes a break. If one member of your team needs to drop out, then the whole team must return to the start/finish area and end their competition.

If your team has one or more minors aged 14 or younger, then the team must include at least one adult responsible for those minors. Minors 15 to 17 years of age may compete as a team without adult supervision, but they still need adult signatures for their waivers.
