Event Description
This metrogaine competition explores the city of Hillsboro that includes different types of housing communities, parks, and a variety of off-road trails between streets and through parklands. You have 1-, 2-, 4-, or 6-hours (there is also a 4-hour bike option) to find as many controls as possible in any order. Watch your time carefully, as there is a point penalty for finishing late. Each solo competitor or team must use the MapRun® phone app for timing and verification of controls found.

You may do your course as an individual or as part of a team, but if you are part of a team, you must remain with your team at all times while competing.

Your placement in the results is dependent on the total number of points that you earn for controls found. Tie scores are broken by time on the course. The point value of each control is determined by the tens or hundreds digit on the control number (as examples, control 38 is worth 30 points and control 116 is worth 100 points).
Event Day Schedule
You may check in, receive your map, and plan your course an hour before the time you start. Although there is a mass start time for all courses at 9 A.M., you may start after that time, but you must finish within the time limit for your course or by 3 P.M., whichever occurs first. After your time limit or the course closure time, you will lose 30 points per minute that you are late. The 3 P.M. closure time will be pushed out if the mass start time is pushed out beyond 9 A.M. The event center will remain open to take in late finishers and to serve refreshments to finishers until about 4:00 P.M.
Teams
Teams are 2-3 people (up to 4 are allowed for families with small children). Choose your teammates carefully. Teams must stay together at all times. If one member needs to take a break, the team takes a break. If one member of your team needs to drop out, then the whole team must return to the start/finish area and end their competition.

If your team has one or more minors aged 14 or younger, then the team must include at least one adult responsible for those minors. Minors 15 to 17 years of age may compete as a team without adult supervision, but they still need adult signatures for their waivers.
