Due to the Grasshopper fire, the venues at Billy Bob and White River are not available.  We just received permission from the Forest Service to move all the events to Skyline Sno-Park, which is less affected by smoke.

The courses are being redesigned for the Skyline map, and the information on the web site has been updated to reflect the change in venues.

Some areas around Government Camp and nearby communities are still in a "Level 1:  Be Ready” evacuation zone, but the danger is lessening as the winds have shifted back to the West, and the air quality is improving as the smoke is being blown away from the area.

Highway 35 from Government Camp to Hood River may still be affected by the fire - those planning to come that way should check the ODOT road condition website https://www.tripcheck.com/ to make sure the highway is open.  The alternative route would be to take Interstate 84 to Exit 14 (Troutdale), and head south to US 26 to Government Camp.  Another option is to take I84 East to The Dalles, then go South on US 197 and West on Oregon 216.  Allow plenty of extra time for either route.

If you have questions or concerns, please email or call Oregon event co-director Dale Hunt at wb6byu@kuonanddale.com or 971-226-9628.

Looking forward to seeing you at the check-in and Sprint equipment Check at Skyline Sno-Park on Wednesday!

Due to rapidly changing conditions associated with the Grasshopper Fire, the U.S. Forest Service has closed portions of the Mt. Hood National Forest, including the Billy Bob Sno-Park area planned for the 2 m and 80 m Classic competitions.

The organizers are aware of the situation and are closely monitoring the fire, the Forest Service closure, road conditions, air quality, and other factors that could affect the championships. We will post updates here whenever circumstances or our plans change, so please check this page regularly as the championships approach.

We remain hopeful that the closure will be lifted in time to hold the Classic competitions at Billy Bob Sno-Park as scheduled. However, because we cannot rely on that outcome, our contingency plan is to hold the Classic competitions at Skyline Sno-Park, which is also scheduled to be used for the Foxoring competition.

Holding three competitions on different days at the same venue is not ideal, but if the contingency plan is necessary, we will do our best to provide three distinct and interesting courses under the circumstances.

At this time, the championships remain scheduled for August 12–16. Registered competitors do not need to take any action in response to this announcement.

If you plan to drive to the championships from eastern Oregon, allow additional travel time. Wildfire response activity or temporary road closures may affect some routes. Check Oregon Department of Transportation TripCheck before traveling and again while en route.

If you have questions or concerns, please email or call Oregon event co-director Dale Hunt at wb6byu@kuonanddale.com or 971-226-9628.
